A disability campaigner has just been appointed to a London-wide football association.

Danny Puresh, director and disability equality consultant at Cheam-based DP Consulting, has been appointed a member and an ambassador for the London Football Association Equality Advisory Group.

Mr Puresh, who set up DP Consulting to promote the inclusion of disabled people in mainstream activities, wants to see disabled people play a greater role in society, and put on an equal footing with their non-disabled counterparts.

In addition to his work at DP Consulting, who carry out access audits and mystery shopping trips, Mr Puresh will now have a say in how the County Football Association plans to deliver equality in London.

Mr Puresh, who is disabled himself said: “Personally this is a great achievement as I have been involved within the borough of Sutton for a number of years in discussing disability issues. I have built up a lot of knowledge and experience over the years about disability issues.

"I am very happy as the London Football Association have recognised this achievement and have given me membership on their Equality Advisory Group.”

Mr Puresh, who will remain in his position as director of DP Consulting said he is pleased that equality in being taken more seriously.

“It is good to see that equality is now being looked at in all sectors of the community including sport and leisure.

"My aim is to become recognised as a strong and trusted provider of disability equality services within the whole of the UK.

"The main long-term ambition for the group is that society - by which I mean staff within football clubs, players, and support staff, need to be fully aware of all the equality issues.”
