I went to a multi-award-winning café, and I honestly think it’s the best I’ve ever been to.

LA Café is on 1a High Street in Sutton, and I went there with my sister, baby nephew and aunt for brunch on Wednesday, April 3.

From the second we walked in, Ankur, the owner, was extremely welcoming and friendly, and we felt at ease with him straight away.

We could smell the desserts and baked treats as soon as we walked in, and the interior was simple and comfortable.

LA Café has won several awards since it opened in 2021, including the Blue Ribbon in the Good Food Awards two years in a row, so our expectations were high… yet they were easily exceeded.

To drink, I had the La Café Coffee Royale, a cappuccino with Baileys Irish Cream, whipped cream and chocolate pearls.

Your Local Guardian:

The hot drink was perfect in every way, from the taste to the warmth, while my aunt had the Frangelico, which is hot chocolate-laced coffee with a smooth flavour of hazelnut liqueur.

When it was time to order, I ordered the LA Café signature breakfast, which had pork sausages, streaky bacon, baked beans, roasted vine tomatoes and homemade bread, all of which were amazing.

But the best part of the breakfast for me was the French butter scrambled eggs with the cafe's signature white truffle sauce – it was so light and fluffy and perfectly seasoned.

Your Local Guardian:

LA Café is unique in many ways, with one being that its daily specials have never been repeated once.

My sister got the daily special, which was 48-hour cooked beef loin served with mushrooms, truffle, grilled tomatoes and pesto, with a side of sweet potato fries and freeze-dried parsley and a mushroom, pepper and wine jus.

Your Local Guardian:

The beef loin and jus complimented each other beautifully and were rich in flavour.

Everything at LA Café is homemade, from the beef loins to the toasted bread on the side, making it feel much more personal.

We still had room for dessert and enjoyed a homemade brownie with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and honeycomb, and a “cruffin” which is a croissant shaped like a muffin with the best pistachio sauce I’ve ever tried.

Your Local Guardian:

As well as the great good, the staff were incredibly friendly and catered to all our needs.

Overall, LA Café lived up to its name and I highly recommend it to anybody because, in my opinion, it is the best café I have ever been to.
