A popular café in Sutton with a five-star rating on Google and daily changing specials has been shortlisted to win two regional awards.

LA Café, located on Sutton High Street, first opened two years ago in May 2021, serving a mix of French and British cuisine.

The business was shortlisted to win two awards at this year's Time and Leisure Food and Culture Awards 2024, in the categories of Best Coffee/Tea House and the #Lovesuttonbiz award.

The awards, run by Time & Leisure Luxury Lifestyle Magazine, brings together the best of the culture and hospitality industry across south west London and Surrey, with categories ranging from Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year to Best Pub or Bar.

LA Café was one of 10 businesses in Sutton to have been shortlisted as finalists to win at this year's awards, with the winners across 19 categories set to be announced on March 18.

The café, situated in the arch of the railway tunnel in close proximity to Sutton Station, features a vibrant and colourful décor with modern touches.

The menu features a continuously changing soup selection, with different daily specials which, according to owner Ankur Baria, “never get repeated.”

The café also serves a range of coffees from coffee company Gorgeous Coffee, along with a range of baked goods, desserts and breakfast rolls made in-house.

Some of the café’s most popular dishes include their Breakfast Baps served in pretzel bread buns with their” signature” truffle sauce, and their French-style scrambled eggs.

Restaurant owner Ankur Baria also added that he felt “proud” to have retained a 5-star Google rating “since the day of opening.”

According to owner Ankur, the café is popular with locals, with many returning on a daily basis to purchase their favourites.

Last year it was named in the Good Food Awards 2024 for a second year running.

Speaking on the recent successes of the business, owner Ankur Baria said that the recognition was a testament to the team's “hard work and commitment”, along with the support of its loyal customers.

Ankur Baria said: “This year for LA Cafe keeps getting better and better.

“We have been winning awards and recognition right from the start of this year.

“We are so lucky to have so many customers around us who love us, support us and care for what we do and most importantly appreciate the relentless effort behind this day in and day out.

“It’s a lot of hard work and commitment to maintain the standards we have, we don’t leave anything unturned as consistency is the most important rule in our book.

“We are mad about the quality so everything you touch, feel and taste is a notch above.

“We are glad to have this recognition and we are thankful from the bottom of our hearts.”
