Two Croydon boxers have made an impression with their performances in a major competition.

Jachai Campbell and Asher Pottinger from Croydon Boxing Gym were named champions at the Capital Cup 2026, held during the last May bank holiday weekend at Broadwater Farm Community Centre in north London.

Campbell took gold in the male 2008 63.5kg category.

He said: "A great personal achievement winning gold at the 2026 Capital Box.

"I boxed very well and listened to the instructions provided by my coaches Victor & Athenee.

"After exiting the competition last year, I was determined to get the win this time around and fought with fire in my heart.

"With this being my first major competition, hopefully this is the start of something great, and I will have many more in future."

Campbell won his final bout 5-0 against a former and gamed opponent, making him a clear winner in the eyes of all 5 judges who were scoring the contest.

Meanwhile, Pottinger claimed victory in the male senior 92kg plus category with a first-round knockout.

He said: "Last year, I sat at home watching the Capital Cup, thinking to myself, I want to get involved in this and see how I would do.

"So to come and win it in my first time competing in the competition is a really good feeling, and it just goes to show that if you work hard and dedicate yourself to your goal, it can pay off.

"So, I'm happy with my achievement and looking forward to pushing on more from there."

The Capital Cup is an annual boxing competition that takes place during the last Bank Holiday of May, from Saturday to Monday.
