Two Merton parks are set to be smartened up in a major investment programme.

Some £133,000 of landscaping improvements will be made at Morden Park and Morden Recreation Ground. The work will be funded with cash paid by developers building in the borough.

In the park the money is likely to be spent replacing the existing assault course or installing a green gym, and making drainage improvements near the bandstand.

And in the recreation ground it will go towards replacing pavilion windows, widening the ground’s footpaths and providing new seating areas, and replacing boundary fencing where the ground runs along Central Road. More boundary fencing will also be used to increase the size of the play area.

A consultation meeting on the improvements will take place on July 18. For more information visit www.merton.gov.uk/morden_park_vision.
