Two teams of lightning quick pooches from Wimbledon dashed for glory last weekend.

The sides competed in a national flyball competition in Cambridgeshire.

The sport is a ball carrying hurdle relay race involving teams of four dogs.

A spokesman for the teams said: “The Wimbledon Woofers (Zak, Tally, Jed and Blue) were running in the top division against some of the fastest teams in the country – including the current British flyball champions, the High Flyers.

"The team held its own against the stiff opposition.”

The Woofers eventually finished fifth in the contest, while the Wimbledon Whizzers topped one of the tournament’s lower divisions.
