A popular Croydon café has closed its doors for good after serving the Addiscombe community for 12 years.
The Tram Stop, on Lower Addiscombe Road, announced yesterday (August 2) that it would be closing permanently later that day, with the café serving customers until 4pm before shutting for the final time.
Owners Jim and Sarah said they had "tried to fight the rising costs" facing the business over recent years but were no longer able to continue.
In a heartfelt statement shared on Facebook, they thanked customers for supporting the café over the past 12 years and urged people to continue backing independent businesses on the high street.

The full statement reads: "We wanted to let you all know that it is with great sadness that we have decided that today will be our last day at The Tram Stop and we will be open until 4pm today.
"We have tried to fight the rising costs which we have faced over the last few years, but sadly we are just not able to continue on.
"We are so grateful for the last 12 years and extremely proud to have been part of this wonderful community."
The announcement prompted an outpouring of tributes from customers, many describing the café as a cornerstone of the Addiscombe community.
Marian Marley wrote: "Addiscombe will not be the same without you.
"Thinking of you and all your amazing staff."
Jonathan Moore described The Tram Stop as "the best one out of all of them", adding: "The Tram Stop was the OG traditional coffee shop."
Former chef Dave Rosamond said: "Some of the best years of my chef career was spent at the Tram Stop.
"So many laughs over the years."
The owners’ statement added: "We want to thank you all for all of your support and friendship over these years. We will miss you all.
"Please support your local high street and all the wonderful cafes here in Addiscombe.
"Times are extremely hard for businesses and every visit to Addiscombe makes a difference. Thank you so much for everything."
