Epsom town centre is facing months of road closures and traffic disruption as major gas works get underway.
East Street and Hook Road are being affected by works to replace old gas pipes and upgrade traffic lights, with disruption expected to continue until December 24.
Southern Gas Networks (SGN) is replacing ageing gas mains with new plastic pipes to help keep the gas supply safe and reliable for homes and businesses.
Hook Road is closed to through traffic between Woodstock Crescent and East Street while the work takes place.

A diversion route has been put in place, but residents and businesses in the area will still be able to access their properties.
Epsom's multi-storey car park remains open and can still be reached via Hook Road.
Temporary traffic measures are also in place on East Street while engineers carry out the gas pipe replacement.
Surrey County Council is also using the opportunity to upgrade traffic lights at the junctions of High Street, Upper High Street, Church Street, and East Street.
The council said carrying out both projects at the same time will reduce disruption by avoiding separate sets of roadworks in the future.
A Surrey County Council spokesperson said: "Residents in Epsom will benefit from a coordinated programme of road and infrastructure improvements, with us and SGN working together to minimise disruption and avoid separate sets of roadworks.
"SGN has started essential work to upgrade gas infrastructure in the town.
"The project supports new housing developments and helps ensure the local gas network remains safe and reliable for years to come. The work began on July 18 and will be delivered in phases until the end of the year.
"Taking advantage of the traffic management already in place, we began a major refurbishment of the traffic signals at High Street and Upper High Street on July 20.
"By carrying out both projects at the same time, residents and businesses will experience one coordinated programme of works rather than multiple road closures and separate periods of disruption."
While SGN has said the project is expected to last around six months, Go Epsom, the town's Business Improvement District (BID), has warned businesses the works could continue until December 24.
SGN said the gas main replacement forms part of its long-term programme to upgrade pipes that are reaching the end of their operational life, helping to maintain a safe and reliable gas supply.
Businesses affected by the works may be eligible for compensation through SGN's small business compensation scheme.
