Heathfield Academy has reacted after being named the joint top-ranked primary school in Croydon based on the latest government data.
The figures, released by the Department for Education, detail schools’ performance in the 2024 to 2025 academic year.
We looked at how Croydon’s government-funded primary schools were ranked.
The data is based on the percentage of pupils meeting the expected standard in reading, writing and maths at the end of Key Stage 2.
According to the figures, 90 per cent of pupils at Heathfield Academy on Aberdeen Road met or exceeded the expected standard.
Nationally, 62pc of Year 6 pupils reached the benchmark, meaning the academy performed 28 percentage points above the national average.
The Department for Education defines a pupil as meeting the expected standard if they achieve a scaled score of 100 or more in their reading and maths tests and are assessed by their teacher as working at the expected standard or above in writing.
Heathfield Academy, which is part of the STEP Academy Trust, said the results place it among the very highest performing primary schools in the borough.

“At Heathfield Academy, we work hard to deliver the very best education to children across the heart of South Croydon.
“Our dynamic and inspiring academy fosters a love of learning and allows pupils to flourish and develop well personally, academically, socially and emotionally.”
The academy said its results reflect strong teaching, a well-sequenced curriculum and targeted support from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to Key Stage 2, alongside regular assessment and progress tracking.
