A Battersea-based entrepreneur who runs a subscription box business aimed at connecting brands with customers is set to appear in the next series of BBC One’s The Apprentice.
Harry Clough, a financial sales manager and business owner, is one of the candidates competing in the 20th series of the BBC show, where hopeful entrepreneurs battle it out for Lord Sugar’s £250,000 investment.
Harry runs Makemyday, a food and drink subscription box service which allows companies to feature their products directly to consumers, with brands paying to be included in curated boxes.
Based in Battersea, he has been open about the realities of entrepreneurship, having previously spoken about experiencing multiple setbacks along the way.
He has said those failures shaped his resilience and pushed him to keep going, ultimately leading him to apply for the programme.
Announcing his appearance on the show on LinkedIn, Harry wrote: “I have been waiting a LONG time to tell you all this.
“I am SO excited to tell you that I am going to be a candidate on season 20 of The Apprentice.”
He added that viewers would be able to follow him as he launches a new venture, Harry Can’t Sit Still, writing: “Follow along as I start my business, Harry Can’t Sit Still and watch me every Thursday at 9pm on BBC One (starting on the 29th of January).”
He said being part of the process was “the biggest privilege I have had in my life”, adding that he felt “very lucky” to take part.
He also questioned whether he has what it takes to become Lord Sugar’s next business partner and secure the £250,000 investment.
In BBC One’s The Apprentice, candidates compete in a series of business challenges set by the 78-year-old tycoon, with the aim of entering a 50/50 partnership with him.
They do this under the close scrutiny of Lord Sugar’s two trusted advisers, Baroness Karren Brady and Tim Campbell, who won the first series of the programme in 2005.
The Apprentice returns to BBC One and BBC iPlayer next Thursday (January 29), with 20 candidates hoping to impress in the boardroom and avoid hearing the words “you’re fired”.
