Police have released CCTV images after a rape that took place at a train station in Cheam.
At around 11pm on August 23, a woman was walking through an alleyway leading to Leatherhead station when a man approached and started talking to her.
Moments later, he hit her on the back of the head and raped her.
The man and the victim then boarded a London-bound train, and both left the service at Cheam.
Just before 12am, the victim was found lying beside the road by a passer-by outside Cheam station.
Officers have released an image of a man they would like to speak to as they believe he may be able to help with ongoing enquiries.
BTP Detective Sergeant Andrew Winters said: “This was an abhorrent attack targeting a young woman late at night.
“The victim has been receiving specialist support as our investigation continues, and we are appealing to the public to assist our efforts to track down the man responsible.
“If you know the man in the CCTV images, please contact us, as we believe he may be able to help us with our ongoing enquiries.”
