A Big Brother contestant’s mum is encouraging people to vote as her Colliers Wood son and two other housemates face a double eviction.
25-year-old Zelah Glasson will be facing the public vote this week, alongside Richard Storry and Farida Khalifa, after a face-to-face nomination on Tuesday (October 28).
Zelah, a transgender man, has been praised for his thoughtful and conscientious approach to life in the house, often showing care for fellow contestants even when situations became tense.
His mum, secondary school teacher Maya Glasson, spoke about how difficult it has been to watch her son navigate the house.
She said: "It’s been quite a difficult watch.
“I’ve worked in education for 36 years, so we have certain standards, and Zelah reflects that zeal about dialogue.
“He hasn’t always been treated particularly well."
Maya referenced Caroline Monk’s controversial behaviour, including instances when she misgendered Zelah and mocked him for checking on Farida after Caroline spat alcohol, which landed on the Muslim contestant.
Maya added: "He’s very trusting, and that has sometimes made things difficult for him in the house, but it also shows the kind of person he is.”
Maya also spoke about Zelah’s character and the values he brings to the house.
She said: "Obviously, he’s thoughtful and gracious, and he wants dialogue and inclusivity to matter."
Reflecting on Zelah’s journey outside the house, she shared how he has faced challenges in his personal life, including losing his father in 2022 and making life changes since then.
"He’s remained dignified and thoughtful throughout," Maya said.
She also spoke about the support Zelah has received from fans.
She added: “He’s the underdog, and I hope viewers recognise those qualities in him.
"It’s been a tough watch, but he shows the value of kindness and dialogue."
Maya is encouraging viewers to vote to save Zelah.
Anyone can vote on the Vote section of the ITV website.
Voting is free and viewers have five votes, with the vote closing on Friday’s live show.
Maya added: "At this point, we are desperate to keep him in.
“We really think he might be evicted, because Caroline thinks he’s going to win.
“He’s the underdog, and I just want people to give him their support."
Big Brother returns tonight on ITV2 at 9pm.
