Croydon Council has received plans for a new 47-storey skyscraper including nearly 800 flats from developers Greystar.

The new development, located at One Lansdowne Road, will include 783 flats in a pair of towers at 35 and 47 storeys tall, as well as a new green public square and space for shops.

Planning documents from HTA Design, on behalf of Greystar, show the new buildings will include office space alongside cinema rooms, a gym and lounges. The public realm of the site will also include a new pedestrian crossing across Wellesley Road.

The plans said that two public consultations were held in March this year to review the design, with the new public green space being welcomed given the lack of similar areas locally. The submission comes six years after plans from Guildhose Rosepride were approved to build a pair of towers at 68 and 41 storeys tall on the site.

The original developer then sold the site to Greystar at the end of 2022, who redeveloped the project to provide a “more sensitive design”.

Greystar are also responsible for the Ten Degrees towers opposite East Croydon station, which include 545 homes across 44 floors.

Dan Thompson, Managing Director of UK Development at Greystar, said in a statement: “One Lansdowne is an incredibly important site for Croydon offering a great opportunity to deliver housing, new green space, and workspace.
