Police have once again been granted additional stop and search abilities following the fatal stabbing of a teenager in South Norwood.

Officers were called at approximately 8.30pm on Sunday, March 8 to reports of a stabbing on a 130 bus in Whitehorse Lane.

Emergency services attended but 17-year-old Damani Mauge was pronounced dead at the scene at 9.07pm.

A Section 60 was then put in place on Monday for a period of 24 hours

This allows officers to search anyone in the affected areas.

Now today, those powers have been extended.

A message posted by the Met Police read: "As officers continue to investigate the murder at Whitehorse Lane on Sunday evening, you will again notice an increased police presence on our streets.

"Specialist trained officers are also in contact with family and friends who remain at the forefront of our thoughts.

"Over the past 24 hours our officers have completed 25 stop and searches, seven weapon sweeps, two vehicle searches and one arrest.

"The Sec 60 has been extended, as we continued to target those who carry weapons in our communities."

Police confirmed that one arrest made was not in connection with the murder.
