I was able to attend the Little Dragon concert this past Thursday, at the Brixton o2 arena.

I've followed them for the past year or two, and are a Swedish electronic music band from Gothenburg, formed in 1996. When I heard they were coming to London, I knew this would be something I'd need to go and see for myself. I was a little wary, sometimes live shows ruin the love you have for an artist but I experienced a completely different outcome.

I didn't really know what to expect, most of their previous shows had been very simple, (those that I’d been able to watch on YouTube) in regards to extra effects. I'd even specifically avoided watching their performances at Glastonbury in preparation for Thursday night’s show.

When I arrived at the arena with two close friends, I was a little too tired from a hard day at sixth form to be as excited as when I’d ordered the tickets, but nevertheless I ensured our seating tickets were the best we could get – and that they were.

The support ‘NAO’ came on, and unlike the concerts I’ve previously been to she captivated the audience with all five songs she performed – and introduced herself to the audience in an extremely positive light. You could tell she was passionate about performing and proved herself to be an artist to watch. She was the perfect interlude to the main performance.

After a long wait in line for a toilet break, and a ten minute DJ set later, the band strolled on and the stage lit up with a fusion of the brightest neon pinks and orange. The main singer Yukimi, might as well have been a blur and with her neon orange dress she blended into the background well (which I think was intentional, to support the feeling of complete awe we’d already been experiencing).

The performed a range of songs, a range from each of their four albums. The band played exceptionally well and Yukimi sounded just as good as she does on their albums (an important factor for a good live show, in my opinion).

Overall the live show was better than I'd expected, however I do wish they played more of the songs that I'd enjoyed (it would have given me more of an excuse to get out of my seat) but other than that it was a great show and i would definitely see them again!

As a member of the audience, I was able to witness a range of colours and creeds and appreciated how universal Little dragon's music is and the range of people it appeals to. They're the type of band that have that one song for everyone - no matter your taste in music.
