In response to the letter sent by an Epsom resident regarding the increase in aircraft noise over Epsom, I would like to say that no, you are not the only person to have noticed this.

I have been so concerned by this that I have written to both Heathrow and Chris Grayling. Heathrow did respond by sending me a telephone number so that I could talk to someone about my concerns, which I have yet to do. Chris Grayling, however, stated that as far as he knew the flight path had not been changed and that there was no increase in flights over Epsom!

An acquaintance who works at Heathrow airport has informed me that the flight paths have been altered in order to give people living under the current flight paths some respite. One reason we chose to live in this area almost 30 years ago is that there was no noise from aircraft. If we had wished to suffer noise from planes then we would have chosen to live in Richmond or Fulham (where, incidentally, our property would be worth much more now!).

It seems that residents have no say in these matters and the powers that be will even deny that there is a problem. Remember this on polling day next year!
