Laurie North's letter, OAP is right, Sept 11, resonated with thoughts that crossed my mind when I read the original senior citizen moan, but I simply rolled my eyes and shrugged my shoulders. Life's too short, I thought.
Well said Laurie North; completely right and expresses succinctly the thoughts of us old 'uns. I assure your young readers the sobriquet OAP is a badge of honour, equal to all your OBEs or MBEs. It proclaims to all and sundry that we have been there, seen it , done it and got the T-shirt to prove it.
My second comment is that Andrew Judge's letter about Circle Housing compounds problems that us OAP's with dying grey matter daily encounter.
Is he really laying the blame (looking for possible back-handers?) at the door of an administration long departed? Certainly we must now be on guard that his clarion call for an independent investigation does not lead to a further bill from the repair company. After all, somebody has got pay to replace all the overturned stones.
Council should in future co-opt a retired builder who will doubtless fall back on the time honoured phrase "you're having a laugh, ain't gonna pay yer!"
