I am sure readers will have been dismayed to see that some of our GP surgeries are facing closure due to a withdrawal of funding (Ill-advised, July 17).
As a patient of the Ashley Surgery for 30 years I am only too well aware how unfairly they have been treated. The agreement for them to move into the purpose built area on the old court site was put in place years ago only for the rug to be pulled from under them now.
The same fate is awaiting the promised surgery on the Hollymoor Lane Site. However on this particular area we have not heard the full story. In last week's edition Cllr Neil Dallen expressed his concern about the loss of the surgery on the development. What a pity it is that the chair of Strategy and Resources on the Residents Association run council did not acknowledge their part in this failure. Years have been lost while RA councillors dithered about this site and still we haven't got an agreed provider for the project
The coalition government would like us to believe the NHS is safe in their hands. It certainly isn't in Epsom and Ewell.
