Old Whitgiftians were held to a 3-3 draw at a Farnham side without a Surrey One victory all season on Saturday, writes Bob Schad.
OWs made little headway against a Farnham side that defended with unexpected tenacity and the only score of the first half was a Les Todd penalty.
The home defence continued to put up great resistance in the second half and, on a rare visit the the OWs half, the Farnham pack earned a penalty that brought the scores level.
Farnham then missed another penalty before the game reverted to the home side’s half, but in the gathering gloom OWs were unable to get the all-important breakthrough.
