Old Mid-Whitgiftian coach Mick Jones has urged his side to go for the London Three South West title after Saturday's last minute 27-24 win over promotion rivals Ellingham & Ringwood.

Anthony Braithwaite's late try secured the victory as Mids overcame a sluggish start and they now need just two wins from the final four games to make sure of a top-two finish and promotion.

They could even catch leaders Gosport & Fareham, who have a six point advantage but have played a game more, as they face them at home in their final game of the season of April 10.

"It was a massive win and we showed great team spirit," said Jones.

"If we get a couple of results go our way then we might only need one win from our last four matches for promotion.

"We are set on winning every game though because if Gosport lose one it could come down to the last game of the season for the title and we all want that.

"We wanted promotion but because we had such a set back at the start of the season, losing the first three games, it was not what we set out for.

"We just took each game as it came and were seeing what happens."

Old Mid are currently without long-serving second row Ikenna Ezegbe-Akpunonu, who could face deportation back to Nigeria on Thursday if his appeal is rejected.

Ikenna has been detained at Dover Detention Centre since Last Tuesday and the club have been campaigning on his behalf, even meeting with Croydon Central MP Andrew Pelling on Sunday.

"The meeting went very well, he was surprised by the turn-out of support," said Jones.

"It is going to go to appeal and from what we understand I cannot imagine they are going to be able to get a case together by Thursday so the deportation should be postponed."

Next three fixtures: Mar 20 Fordingbridge (h), 27 Kingston (a), Apr 3 Andover (a).
