Former John Fisher School pupil George Skivington captained England Saxons to their 17-13 victory over Ireland A at Bath’s Recreation Ground yesterday.
It was the end of an 11-month itch for the Wasps flanker, who missed out on the Saxons captaincy last February after the scheduled match with Ireland A was called off because of bad weather.
“I was gutted when the match was called off last year. It is a massive honour to captain England at any level and the team has bonded very well,” said Skivington.
Tries from Harlequins’ David Strettle and Northampton’s Shane Geraghty helped England to their victory.
Saxons face Italy A in Treviso next Sunday (2.30pm).
