Bridgwater dominated possession and territory in the first half but Barnes soaked up everything that was thrown at them, conceding only two penalties in the fifth and 12th minutes.
As Barnes settled they created some chances and before the whistle wing Anthony Wilde ran onto a kick ahead that bounced awkwardly for the defence making it 6–5 at half time.
Barnes stepped up a gear in the second half. Four minutes in they created a try that fullback Warren Gower finished and converted. Four minutes later Bridgwater retook the lead with a try from wing Matthew Richards converted by Stuart Evans.
The lead changed again with a penalty from Gower then early in the fourth quarter Barnes stretched Bridgwater’s defence with hooker Matthew Grove going over. Gower converted and reached 13 points with a penalty 5 minutes before the end.
