Worcester Park’s Howard Fuller has set his sights on a British Touring Car Championship drive next year after impressing on his Volkswagen Cup debut over the weekend.
The 19-year-old former Brooklands College student jumped in BTCC driver Tony Gilham’s Team Hard Golf to qualify on the front row of the grid at Brands Hatch.
Although he failed to finish the first race on Saturday, he came from 27th on the grid to finish sixth on Sunday.
“Taking six cars on the first lap and further places to finish sixth was an astounding effort,” he said.
“I got the result we needed and with very little damage to the car. The team were speechless.
“We really enjoyed the weekend and getting back to racing after six months away.
“We hope to raise sponsorship for us to prove we have a fighting chance in the BTCC in the near future.”
