A korfball extravaganza is taking place this Sunday as Whitgift School host the final round of matches of the Korfball season.
The countries top 10 teams will be battling it to see who will make the play-offs and who will get relegated from the England Korfball League to the regional leagues.
Three Croydon-based teams are in action – Trojans, Croydon and Mitcham, who play at Whitgift School.
Bec, from Tooting, and Nomads, from Epsom, will also be competing.
The top four make it through to the play-off stages, which take place in May, with the winners being crowned champions of the league. Trojans and Bec have already made the play-offs but wins will ensure an easier draw in the first round.
Mitcham are just outside the play-offs while Croydon are bottom and look like getting relegated.
“This is an opportunity to see the top korfball players in the country in action,” said London Korfball’s development officer Liam Clarke.
Five of the teams playing are from London so we are expecting lots of local spectators who will cheer our sides on and create a great atmosphere.
“Overall, we are hoping for a great day out.”
The matches commence at 10.20am and run until 6pm and entry is free.
