A total of 540 runners took part in Sunday's Tadworth Ten, the annual 10-mile run around Epsom Downs, Walton-on-the-Hill and Tadworth.

The race was dominated by Newham & Essex Beagles runner Abdi Amare Madar, who finished in 56 minutes, two seconds, more than two minutes ahead of second man home Bruce Harrold, of Dorking & Mole Valley AC, who clocked 58:11.

Cranleigh’s Clayton Payne was third in 59:46. The first lady home was Clare Elms, of Dulwich Runners, in a new course record of one hour, two minutes and 58 seconds. Rachel Gibbs, of Bedford & County AC, was second in 1:04:06, with Woking’s Rose Nicholson third in 1:05:39.

Dorking & Mole Valley AC won the men's team prize (three to score), with a team made up of Bruce Harrold, Graham Hewett and Andrew Fay. The ladies’ team prize went to Woking AC with good runs from Rose Nicholson, Susanna Harrison and Ramona Thevenet-Smith.

Tadworth AC had seven runners in the race.
