Hercules Wimbledon Athletic Club's senior men made history on Saturday when they won medals at the London cross-country Championship medals for the first time.

Kieran White led Hercules Wimbledon to gold at Parliament Hill finishing 12th out of 289 runners, covering the 10km course in 33 minutes 31 seconds.

Dominic Kirayfi was 22nd in 34:29, 14 seconds ahead of Jonathan Cornish who was 25th with Joe Clark following up in 28th in 34:56.

Hercules Wimbledon were the top Surrey team at Parliament Hill, finishing ahead of rivals Thames Hare & Hounds and Herne Hill Harriers.

Other Hercules Wimbledon finishers included Surrey steeplechaser Rob Tuer who was 39th in 35:35, and marathon runner David Grima who was 99th in 38:34.

His marathon-running wife, Claire, just missed out on a place medal in the women's 6km championship, finishing fourth as first veteran over-35 in 22:42.

More than 30 Hercules Wimbledon runners were in action at Parliament Hill Fields on Saturday as many of the club's youngsters contested the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games cross-country championships which preceded the senior races.

Highest placed youngster was Zoe Illis who was 10th out of 121 runners in the women's U17 race where she was representing Wandsworth.

Running for Merton, Matthew Gibbons was 11th in the boys U15 race in 10:27, while Oscar White, also running for Wandsworth, was 12th out of 176 runners in the U13 race in 7:51.

Peter Riches, representing Merton, was 21st in 8:01.

Representing Richmond, Jack Collins was 24th in the U17 race in 17:59.
