Hercules Wimbledon AC senior men's team are ending their summer track and field season in style with two reasons to be cheerful.
The side secured their first victory of the summer in the final Rosenheim League Eastern division fixture of the season at Tooting Bec last weekend, and have been invited to contest the Southern Men's League final at Thames Valley Athletic Stadium, Eton, on August 10.
Hercules Wimbledon's runners dominated the track events in the Rosenheim League meeting winning five of the seven events.
Three days after making his Surrey debut in the annual senior inter-counties match at Abingdon, Dwayne Cowan posted a personal best time of 10.9 seconds in winning his non-scoring 100m race.
He then lined up with Joseph Chukwuadinula, Hamed Agboke and Antonio Douglas to anchor the quartet to a comfortable victory in the 4x200m relay.
Chukwuadinula also broke the 11 seconds barrier in matching Cowan's winning time of 10.9 in finishing just behind him in the non-scoring 100m race.
Cowan finished third in the 200m representing Surrey at Abingdon clocking 21.54 racing into a 1.2 metres per second headwind.
He encountered an even stronger 2.7 metres per second headwind in winning his non-scoring 100m race in 11.31.
Teenager Kevin Owusu-Mantey, a finalist in this summer's English schools championships in Birmingham, won the match 100m at Tooting Bec in 11.0 with Sean Hall taking the 800m in 1:54.8.
Another teenager, Cassian Hyde dominated the 1,500m at Tooting to win in 4:17.8.
Match result: 1 Hercules Wimbledon 58; 2 Herne Hill 55; 3 Croydon 45; 4 Belgrave 42; 5 Serpentine 28; 6 Striders of Croydon 9.
