Molesey assistant boss Peter Lelliott reckons his Combined Counties Premier League side can take confidence from the FA Cup exit at the hands of Folkestone Invicta.
The Moles let a 2-0 lead slip in Tuesday’s preliminary round replay as they crashed 4-2 after extra time.
The first encounter had finished all square at 3-3, a game which had seen Molesey – currently ninth in the table – come from 2-0 and 3-2 down to level late on through Ross Chalke.
“I’m gutted for the lads. They showed real character across the two games and I feel for them,” he said, who was in charge for the two games with manager Steve Webb on holiday in Australia.
“But we have set the standard now and if we can maintain that quality and consistency for the rest of the season we will do well.”
Molesey go to Pagham FC in the FA Vase tomorrow.
