Epsom & Ewell extended their lead at the top of the Combined Counties League Premier Division to four points, thanks a 3-2 win at Ash on Saturday.

The game had a lively opening with Ash taking the lead from a John Brogden header from a corner in only the second minute.

However, within 60 seconds, the Salts were level when Kyle Hough picked up a corner on the edge of the box and fired home a deflected shot.

The lively striker scored again on 16 minutes when a run from the edge of the box took him past two defenders to finish confidently.

Ash fought back, pressing the ball hard from midfield and a stray backpass fell to striker Karl Dallaway who equalised in the 28th minute.

During the latter stages of the first half and during the second the Salts started to get more on top of the game .

And they got their due reward when Sam Currie's pinpoint cross found Robbie Burns who chested down into space for himself to finish on the hour mark.

Epsom made several more good chances but could not extend the lead and needed Kieran Campbell's double save just before the end to preserve the three points.

The Salts’ take on Bedfont Sports at Chipstead in the league on Saturday, while their defence of the League Cup starts at Horley next Tuesday night.
