Sandhurst Lake must be one of the best day-ticket waters in the country if you are targeting specimen carp, considering the great catches that have been taken there lately.

Chris Felton, an estate manager from Newdigate, banked his first ever 40-plus carp there last week when he landed a fabulous 42lb 10oz mirror.

He tempted the huge carp with humble maggots, fished in conjunction with a PVA bag of maggots.

At the same venue Kingston's David Magalhaes, an employee at Gerry's of Wimbledon, had a terrific brace of carp.

His Scopex squid liver boilie proved too much of a temptation for, firstly, a 34lb 12oz common and later a 28lb 6oz catch.

Yet another to bank a brace of big carp is Coulsdon Angling Centre boss Richard Lane.

Fishing at an undisclosed Surrey club water, Richard firstly landed a common at 21lb 12oz and followed that up with a mighty mirror that pulled the scales around to a stunning 34lb 1oz. The winning bait was Essential BS boilies.
