AFC Wimbledon have slapped a £2,000 price tag on wantaway striker Robin Shroot as a war of words erupted between player and club.

Shroot, currently on loan at Ryman Premier Division play-off rivals Harrow Borough, has refused to sign a contract extension at Kingsmeadow.

And that has angered Dons manager Terry Brown, who warned the 19-year-old starlet he faces a frustrating spell on the sidelines when he returns at the end of his loan period in February.

Brown said: "He has refused to sign a new contract for next year so we have put him on the transfer list for £2,000.

"There's no doubt he is a very talented player but he has made his intentions clear."

Shroot, who has hit eight goals in 10 games for Harrow, is interesting a host of clubs, thought to include Sutton United. He is also expected to return to League One outfit Crewe for a further trial in the summer.

The youngster has dug in his heels, insisting he is only willing to quit the Dons for Harrow.

But Brown warned he has no intention of letting Shroot join their play-off rivals, and blamed the player for his predicament.

Brown added: "We are not very happy with Harrow Borough, to be honest. We loaned him in good faith and now he wants us to let him stay there.

"Four or five clubs have come in for him and are willing to pay that amount but he is unwilling to join any of them."

Shroot, though, begged to differ, and accused the Dons of playing fire with his future.

He said: "It is a really difficult situation for me.

"As far as I am aware, Harrow Borough put in a bid for me but AFC have rejected it.

"To be honest, I have not got a clue what is going on."

But Brown rubbished his claims, adding: "If he said he does not know what is going on then he needs to look at himself in the mirror.

"If he thinks we are holding his football future to ransom then he does not know what he is talking about. The ball is firmly in his court."
