AFC Wimbledon chief Terry Brown blasted his attacking players after Tuesday night's agonising FA Cup replay defeat to Horsham, claiming "they are not good enough".

Mark Beard missed the vital penalty in a 5-4 shoot-out defeat to the West Sussex side after Jason Goodliffe had equalised Lewis Taylor's early opener.

Yet again the Dons looked completely devoid of attacking ideas over 120 minutes of football, following a 0-0 draw in the original tie at Kings-meadow on Saturday.

And Brown has finally come to the end of his tether with his shotshy strikers and is ready to wield the axe.

"I certainly don't think the attacking players are good enough to take the club on," said Brown.

"There are some players at this club who haven't got a future - we are lacking absolutely everything up front.

"Our side as an attacking force isn't good enough."

Richard Jolly, Richard Butler, Daniel Webb, Sebastian Kneissl, Marcus Gayle and now-departed loan signing Guliano Grazioli have all played up front for the Dons this season - but have scored just five goals between them.

Butler is the only fit out-and-out striker at the club at present but, with the exception of the injury-plagued Gayle, Brown insists all of them have had their chance to stake a claim.

"We have been without three of our front runners and I thought we were powder puff up front on Tuesday," said Brown.

"We could have played out there all day and never scored - the fact that Jason Goodliffe had to go up there to score was hardly surprising.

"The attacking players that have continually played and continually been given a chance have to ask themselves if they are up to playing for a club of this stature.

"The players that have played up front for us this season, and I include the wingers in that, have had ample opportunity to make the place their own and none of them have done it."

Gayle, who insists he will be the answer to Brown's scoring problem once he regains fitness, could return to action against Billericay Town on October 27.
