Terry Brown has warned strikers Jon Main and Luke Moore that they need to start finding the net quickly or risk being dumped from the AFC Wimbledon starting line-up.

Main and Moore have failed to register a goal between them in the first six games of the campaign, in stark contrast to partner Danny Kedwell who already has six to his name.

And Brown admits he will only put up with the situation for so long.

He said: “I am not getting enough goals from my wide forwards at the moment and that is bothering me.

“I have been running with Jon and also Luke Moore in that position and it is not working at the moment.

“Every goalscorer is the same - they need that goal to give them the confidence to kick on and the first one is always the most difficult.

“You look at Danny and he does everything you want as a striker - he leads the line well, gets others in the game and takes his chances.

“So we have absolutely no problems with our number nine, but numbers ten and 11 are just not producing the goods.”

The Dons took four points from their two Bank Holiday fixtures, a 3-2 win at Eastbourne Borough followed by a 2-2 draw with Newport County on Monday.

And the Wimbledon boss is just happy to get the hectic period out of the way.

Brown added: “We are less than three weeks into the season and we have already played six games and that is ridiculous.

“If you look at the workload we have had I think 13 points is a pretty good return and we have to be happy with that.

“In the Newport game both sides were visibly tired, but they stifled us and at 2-1 we really should have gone on to close it out.

“But we are satisfied with how things are going - if you have a bad start things get jittery and you get away from playing your football, and that is something we do not have to worry about.”

Wimbledon hit the road to play Kettering this weekend to face a side with just one win to their name this season.

But Brown is expecting another thorough examination.

He added: “It is far too early to say Kettering are struggling and I am expecting a tough game.

“Their chairman has pumped a lot of money into the club and he will be expecting a return sooner rather than later, and we have to be prepared for that.”
