Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson has all-but conceded defeat on the club’s hopes of replaying their Ryman League Premier Division play-off final clash with Boreham Wood.

The FA confirmed this week the match - which saw Ks skipper Francis Duku attacked by a rival fan during the 2-0 defeat - was still under investigation.

The news came 24hours after the Ryman League unveiled the proposed make-up of next season’s competition with Dowson’s men named among those to contest the Premier League title again.

The Kingsmeadow chief began the process of building a team capable of securing promotion next season when he allowed Luke Garrard, Tommy Williams and Liam Collins - formerly under contract - to quit the club this week.

Winger Christian Jolly has been confirmed as AFC Wimbledon-bound after agreeing a full-time contract with the Blue Square Premier outfit on Friday.

It means the manager will be without one of his star performers should the Boreham Wood result be overturned and the Kingstonian chief has almost conceded it is time to move on.

“The longer this drags on the more it seems nothing significant will happen. I suppose the Ryman League have to announce the teams and we have to take it from there,” he said.

“I’ll not stand still. We’ve got to crack on and need to start preparing for next season.”

Dowson will sit down with the Kingstonian board this week to discuss his plans for the coming campaign and he expects more faces to leave Kingsmeadow.

“I would think one or two more players will leave this week and hopefully that will allow us to bring in the six or seven players I think we need,“ he added.

“Hopefully, we’ll have one or two new players signed up early next week.”

And he admits bettering last season’s run to the play-off final will need a lot of hard work.

“I was a bit shocked at how far we were behind Dartford last year. The second defeat to them confirmed that. We had improved a lot and were still spanked,” he said.

“Expectations have gone up. We’ve given fans a bit of hope. If we want to challenge at the top we need to get better people in.

“We can’t afford to stand still if we want to go one better next season.”
