George Burley expects former Holland international Edgar Davids to decide in the next couple of days if he will join Crystal Palace.

The 37-year-old met with Eagles manager Burley this week having indicated he was interesting in playing competitive football again for the first time in two years.

It is understood Palace are offering him a pay-as-you-play deal and Burley admitted he is currently waiting for an answer.

"We spoke to Edgar and had a meeting with him earlier in the week," he said.

"The boy felt enthusiasm and he has been training with Ajax so we left it that way.

"He will probably let us know if we are going to do something in the next few days "At the moment it was just a chat."
