Carshalton Athletic have been given the go ahead to install a 3G pitch at Colston Avenue.
The club won an appeal on Thursday against the original decision by Sutton Council last year that rejected the planning application.
Robins will now go about raising the £400,000 needed, and any timescale is dependent on those funds being found.
Chairman Paul Dipre said the money will come from a variety of sources, including grants from the Football Foundation, as well as money raised within the club itself.
He said: “This is probably the best moment since I have been at the club, it is fantastic news.
“It means we can continue the community scheme we are currently running, but all from one place.
“No more training at dozens of different sites, we can all be together, and everyone at the club is delighted with the news.”
He added: "The fact the appeal was successful shows it was a good application in the first place.
"When we can start work depends on the fund-raising, and I think it'll be tight to get work started this summer."
