Unbeaten Brentford face their toughest task of the season so far when they entertain third-placed Bradford City this Saturday.

The fifth-placed Bees go into this crunch match fresh from a rollocking from manager Leroy Rosenior for dropping two points in a 1-1 draw at Scunthorpe last Saturday.

He told his players to grow up, but one notable exception was goal scorer Jo Kuffour, who received glowing praise from the man he has followed to Griffin Park from Torquay.

Rosenior said: "Jo was outstanding. When he gained possession, he had three or four people around him but he still came out with the ball.

"He's on a run of form I have always expected from him.

"He could certainly play higher and, for his size, nobody holds the ball up better.

"Jo's strong, quick and has tricks. He has tremendous ability."

Rosenior was less glowing about Kuffour's team-mates.

"We were in control after the first 15 minutes and could have led more than 1-0 at half-time," he said.

"For 20 minutes in the second half we were battered.

"If we had shown a bit more experience, we would have come away with the points.

"We have got to stop throwing victories away - the players have got to grow up and show more belief.

"Stuart Nelson had to keep us in the game, but Paul Brooker was denied by a world-class save at the other end."

Fielding an unchanged side to that which beat Swindon 4-3 on penalties in the Carling Cup the previous Tuesday, Brentford opened brightly, with Kuffour and Chris Moore missing chances.

They took the lead six minutes from half-time.

Kevin O'Connor free-kick bounced off the wall, Thomas Pinault's follow-up shot was blocked but Kuffour blasted the loose ball into the net from six yards.

Scunthorpe hit the woodwork three times before equalising through an own goal.

An Ian Barraclough corner was nodded back into the box before the otherwise impressive John Mousinho headed into his own net.

Brentford: Nelson; O'Connor, Heywood, Griffiths, Tillen; Rhodes (Tomlin, 67mins), Pinault, Mousinho, Brooker; Kuffour, Moore (Charles, 80mins). Att: 3942.

Striker Scott Fitzgerald, out of favour at Griffin Park, has joined AFC Wimbledon on a month's loan.

Brentford have been drawn at home to Championship side Luton Town in the second round of the Carling Cup in the week starting September 18.
