Brentford may be facing a run of eight games in 25-days, but striker Charlie MacDonald insists a run of good results will keep a spring in the squad’s step.

Boss Andy Scott’s men, starting with MK Dons at the weekend, endure a three week run of Saturday-Tuesday games before the Easter Bank Holiday.

The Griffin Park chief has only three recognised specialist strikers as he scours the loan market for re-enforcements, but MacDonald says he will have no problem shouldering the workload providing the Bees hit a winning streak.

“It is going to be physically tough, but mentally we are very strong,” he said.

“When you are playing so many games in a short space of time, you can feel the physical strain if you are losing.

“But if you are winning and picking up points, you are enjoying things and looking forward to every game, which makes a big difference.

“That is why we have to start it this week on a high note with a win against MK Dons because everything will become easier.”

MacDonald netted the winner at Stadium:MK in December a week after the Bees had held Leeds United to a 0-0 draw at Griffin Park.

And the 29-year-old reckons this week’s visitors are ripe for a repeat performance in the wake of Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Elland Road.

“MK are a big side in this league and we have had no problem getting ourselves up for the big boys,” he added.

“They’ve lost their best player in James Puncheon since we last played them.

“We put in a decent performance against Leeds and we need to back that up.”
