Crystal Palace defender Ryan Inniss will miss the rest of the season with a hamstring injury, but he is remaining positive.

The 20-year-old was on loan at Port Vale in League One, and has suffered an injury-ravaged season.

A shoulder injury robbed Inniss of three months' action before Christmas, and then was out for a further month with a hamstring injury picked up in February.

This most recent set-back, suffered in Vale's defeat at home to Barnsley on Monday, is the final straw in his season.

However, Inniss tweeted: "Thanks for all those that stuck by me. I will be working hard to come back fitter and stronger.

"Would like to thank all at @OfficialPVFC for this season, been a difficult one for me with the injuries but none the less enjoyable."

Vale boss Rob Page told the Stoke Sentinel: "Ryan has a grade three tear on his hamstring which isn't great news.

"Unfortunately I think that writes him off for the rest of the season, it puts him out for about six to eight weeks."

He added: "It has been very difficult from a mental point of view for him to cope with the amount of injuries he has had. They are big injuries as well.

"He has had probably three or four injuries in one season that any player would do well to just get away with one in a season. "
