Brentford boss Uwe Rosler refused to condemn his players after Monday's 2-0 defeat to runaway League One leaders Leyton Orient.

The Bees crashed to a second half David Mooney penalty and a late Shaun Batt strike to suffer their first home defeat in the league this term.

Orient, with eight wins from eight games, are now eight points clear at the top of the table and 12 points ahead of tenth placed Brentford after Rosler's men crashed to their 23rd defeat in their 47th live television appearance since 1991.

But the Griffin Park chief insisted his side had looked like the team at the top of the table for much of the game and expected their conquerors to maintain their promotion challenge.

"Last season Tranmere Rovers had a similar start to Leyton Orient, but dropped out of the play-offs. I do not expect them to do the same," he said.

"For 65 minutes you could not tell who was leading the league and who was 12 points behind.

"It was a big game. We didn't do the right things after going a goal down, but until then we did a lot of good things.

"I'm not here to slaughter my players. They did a lot of good stuff."

Chelsea loan star player George Saville missed Monday's clash with a hip problem.
