Bees midfielder Adam Forshaw has already put Sunday’s FA Cup defeat at Chelsea behind him, but it will remain in the memory banks to serve as a reminder of what Brentford could achieve.

Boss Uwe Rosler’s men crashed 4-0 at Stamford Bridge in the fourth round replay, having held the European champions at 0-0 for close to an hour.

The Bees, who twice took the lead in the original cup clash with the Blues which finished 2-2, return to earth with the visit of Walsall to Griffin Park tomorrow.

Forshaw, who collected Fernando Torres’ shirt as a memomento, made one Premier League and one Europa League appearance for former club Everton prior to his switch to Griffin Park.

And the 21-year-old admitted the two clashes with the former Premier League winners had given him a thirst for a top flight return one day.

“This is the pinnacle. All the lads are striving to be here at this level and play against the best players in the world,” he said on Sunday.

“It was a great test for us, but the scoreline was just unfortunate.

“We started really well. We want to put this behind us now. It was a great experience.

“We all enjoyed it, but we want to focus on the league now and get promotion.”

Rosler now has some fixture congestion to deal with and put the six-figure cash windfall from the two games – and the cup run as a whole – to good use  this week.

With the Bees needing to squeeze in 15 games before the end of the season, the manager signed striker Bradley Wright-Phillips on loan from Charlton Athletic until the end of the season and picked up defender Liam Moore on similar terms from Leicester City.

Forshaw insisted the current squad was capable of coping with the added strain on resources to keep their promotion push on track.

“We’re a bunch of fit lads and a young squad.  Even the experienced lads have good legs on them,” he added.

“Everyone is ready for the next couple of months and ready for what is expected.”

Midfielder Jake Reeves, concussed after a clash with Chelsea’s David Luiz on Sunday, should be fit for the weekend.
