Police have raided homes in Surbiton, Kingston and Worcester Park and seized £1m cash and kilos of drugs in connection with a multimillion pound cannabis operation.
The Metropolitan Police's Special Intelligence Section swooped yesterday to arrest 14 people at 35 addresses in London, Kent, Surrey and Thames Valley.
Officers seized two money-counting machines, around £1m in cash and over 50 kilos of cannabis and two safes.
The gang are suspected to be part of an organised criminal group involved in the importation, storage and distribution of large quantities of cannabis, using a fleet of delivery vans to distribute cannabis to London and the Home Counties.
DI Steve Wilkinson, Special Intelligence Section, said the operation had been “highly successful”.
“We believe they have been operating for a number of years as a highly organised network, probably generating millions per year,” DI Wilkinson said.
“SIS are dedicated to tackling organised criminal networks and bringing them to successful prosecution.”
The 13 men and one woman have been taken to an unidentified south London police station.
Homes in Worcester Park, Epsom, East Molesey, Ashtead, Ewell, Surbiton, Kingston, Wimbledon and Sutton were among the addresses raided.
