Overlooking the Thames, Pitcher and Piano, on 11 Bridge Street, already had the perfect location on the river but it’s recent revamp for the summer has definitely made it a great venue to enjoy a tipple or dine out with a group of friends whilst soaking up the sunshine.

Here are the 6 things you need to know before pitching up:

The terrace

Newly re-furbed for summer 2017, the terrace has a premium spot on the Riverfront offering guests the chance to relax in the sunshine whilst watching the boats float by or if you time it right a glistening sunset.

The cocktails

Short, long, straight up, with a twist – they have it all, from the classics and house cocktails to the bespoke gin and long concoctions there is something for everyone.

For those who are after that sweeter taste then the ‘pink flamingo’ is for you but to get that proper summer time feel try the aperol spritz – the perfect tipple to enjoy on a lazy Sunday afternoon in the sun.

The burgers

Offering a standard menu featuring typical gastro pub dishes such as salt and pepper calamari to start to homemade sharing nachos and sausage and mash for a main there isn’t much to shout about food wise.

However, worth mentioning are the burgers and portion sizes – all served in a brioche bun with skinny fries and a red cabbage slaw – there is more than enough to go around. Plus there are six options to choose from including the standard cheese burger, a maple-glazed bacon topping, chicken and blue cheese or mushroom and onion.

Saturday nights

The two-storey building makes use of its space well and when the DJ rocks up on a Saturday night, the chilled-out atmosphere kicks it up a notch and turns into a more of a party-esque feel with visitors hitting the dance floor and the noise levels raising the roof.

The balcony

If the vast outside terrace wasn’t enough Pitcher and Piano boasts a small outside balcony which wraps around the side facing the river. Offering another option for diners who want to enjoy the outdoors but stay away from the hustle and bustle.

The staff

Friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to have a chat, the staff can improve any visit to the riverside venue. For those who could rival the quizmaster the staff all seem able to answer any questions about the food or drinks menu and the mixologists behind the bar happy to tailor a cocktail to your liking. If the food didn’t hit the spot, they are quick to try and assist in any other way possible.
