A protestor has bought two Afghanistan-born Croydon students some extra time after she glued herself to the coach that was set to take them to their deportation flight.
The woman’s action of sticking herself to the windscreen wiper led to 20 people being taken off the vehicle which was going from the detention centre at Gatwick to the plane.
They include John Ruskin College pupil Sherdil Khan and Croydon College student Shafiqullah Safi who had both told Croydon Guardian that they would kill themselves if they had to go back to Afghanistan.
How we reported the flight: Croydon students whose families were killed by Taliban set for deportation to Afghanistan
Campaigners trying to keep Mr Khan and Mr Safi in the country are now working to get the issue of their deportation raised in Parliament.
They need to get 100,000 signatures on a petition to get the issue talked about and hope to do this before the next chartered deportation flight takes off, on a date which is not yet known.
The petition can be found at you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/save-sherdil-and-others-from-horrific-deportation-to-afghanistan
