A south London couple have been charged with fundraising for the purposes of committing terrorism.

Mohammed Iqbal Golamaully, 47, and his wife Nazimabee Golamaully, 45, who formerly lived in the Mitcham Eastfields area, have been jointly charged with one count of fundraising on or before August 13, 2014, contrary to Section 15 (3) of the Terrorism Act 2000.

The Act defines a fundraising offence as inviting others to provide money or property, receiving money or property or providing money or property to be used for the purposes of terrorism.

Mrs Golamaully was arrested by officers from the MPS Counter Terrorism Command on April 2, 2015 and her husband was arrested on December 8, 2015. Both have been on police bail while the investigation continued.

They were charged today, Wednesday, April 27, and bailed to attend Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, May 3.
