A heart-broken mother-to-be is pleading for help in finding her lost engagement ring before she gives birth to her first child.

Alexa Suranyi has treasured memories of her husband proposing after a romantic dinner in their native Hungary last year.

He got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife in June last year - before placing the white gold band set with a beautiful diamond on his tearful bride-to-be’s finger.

Lost: The distinctive ring

The couple were walking home from the restaurant and Mrs Suranyi said it was like something out of a film as Mr Suranyi popped the question.

"He went down on one knee and I started to cry.

"It was so romantic.

"He gave me the ring and now it’s lost," she said.

Mrs Suranyi cannot find the ring anywhere and has put up dozens of posters around Wimbledon Broadway offering a reward for it to be returned to her.

She has turned her flat upside down and thinks she may have dropped it along The Broadway while walking to Wimbledon station from their Southey Road home.

The ring was specially made for her and is engraved with her and her husband’s initials.

The couple are now expecting their first child, due in October, and are desperate to find the ring, which she said is priceless, before then.

Mrs Suranyi said: "I don’t wear it every day but when I wanted to wear it in February I couldn’t find it.

"It reminds me of a romantic gesture, it is a really nice memory.

"I have put posters up on lamp-posts and wished for the best."

She said she has not had any calls about the ring yet but says she is still optimistic.

The loss has been reported to the police and South West Trains.

The couple, who got married in August last year and moved to Wimbledon in October, are offering an undisclosed reward for its safe return.
