Disabled people in Merton are celebrating a three year funding boost from the National Lottery.
Merton Centre for Independent Living (CIL) said the much-needed funding of £487, 245 will ensure its specialist services for local disabled people will continue and grow.
Services set to benefit from the boost include a home visiting advice service, peer support programme and supported volunteering opportunities.
Merton CIL is a user-led disabled people’s organisation, run by disabled people, for disabled people.
The organisation supports the independence and inclusion of disabled people across the full spectrum of disability, challenges discrimination, and enables people to achieve change locally.
In addition to funding from the Big Lottery Fund, Merton CIL will also be funded by Merton Council and Henry Smith charity over the next three years.
