Political prisoners languishing in prison are the subjects of a student campaign at Southfields Community College.
The pupils, part of the school’s Amnesty International group, are calling for the release of Burmese leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
Ms Suu Kyi has been under house arrest for years and was sent to court for breaking the conditions after an American man apparently swam across a lake to spend the night with her.
Anita Solis, teacher, said: “It is shocking that Aung San Suu Kyi, the democratically elected leader, who has already spent 13 years under house arrest, has now been thrown in jail when she had expected to be released in the near future.”
