The Wandsworth Diabetes Champion programme is raising awareness of the condition.
The scheme, in partnership with the charity Diabetes UK and Wandsworth Council, trains 'champions' to educate and raise awareness of diabetes among people at risk of developing diabetes.
Diabetes clinical lead for NHS Wandsworth Clinical Commissioning Group Dr Neil Bamford said: “Whether it’s a neighbour, friend or work colleague, we all have someone in our lives who either has diabetes, or undiagnosed diabetes.
"So signing up as Wandsworth Diabetes Champion is a new year’s resolution that will benefit both yourself and those around you.
"Diabetes Champions will play a pivotal role in helping to spread the word about diabetes and how lifestyle changes can prevent or delay the onset of diabetes.”
