A teen gangster has been jailed for his part in a “shocking knife frenzy” in a Tooting bookies.
William Hill in Mitcham Road Tooting
Turae Coye, 18, of Neville Gill Close, Wandsworth, has been sentenced to nine years in prison for attacking two associates with a 10in blade.
It is understood Coye is affiliated to SUK (Stick ‘em Up Kids) a notorious Wandsworth-based gang.
Coye and three companions chased two men into William Hill Bookmakers, in Mitcham Road, on March 18, in an ongoing gang-related dispute.
The two victims, aged 17 and 18, were attacked by Coye and his companions, all of whom were carrying 10in knives.
Following the attack, which lasted a matter of seconds, Coye and his companions ran out of the shop and made their getaway by car.
Both victims required hospital treatment for stab wounds to the body and legs. They have since been discharged and are making a good recovery.
The police investigation was launched by the Trident Gang Crime Command and Coye handed himself into police on the March 28.
Detective Constable Kevin Pandya said: "Coye showed no remorse for his violent actions and the shocking knife frenzy he committed, was in full view of the public.
“The evidence against him was overwhelming and together with his strong affiliation with gangs and violence, Coye will start this lengthy jail term.”
Coye, 18, was sentenced on November 28, at Kingston Crown Court, to nine year imprisonment for Grievous Bodily Harm with intent after pleading guilty to the offence at an earlier hearing.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the identities and the whereabouts of the outstanding three suspects.
